Though the members of the Razbar Ensemble are certainly adept musicians, they are not what we would consider musicians in the traditional sense of the word. Rather, the Ensemble is comprised of individuals who have committed their lives to an elevated form of spirituality, and for whom the chanting, melodies, rhythms, and dances constitute an intense form of devotion. Their contagious enthusiasm, therefore, is the direct result of their fervor and conviction.
It is important to note that the Ensembles purpose is to share their spiritual music, not to stage a performance. Their adherence to the authentic structure and spirit of their musical and liturgical tradition is less a matter of an aesthetic quest than a keen sense of the sacred that recognizes the Divine in its complementary aspects of beauty and majesty. In an age when sacred art seems to have lost its aura, the Razbar Ensemble continues to radiate the light and warmth that is so vital for the soul.
